What is cosmetic tattooing?
Are these treatments safe?
Yes, all treatment equipment used is sterile and for single use only. Feather and Lace maintains a very high standard of hygiene which minimises the risk of infection.
Allergic reactions are extremely rare, however we can provide a skin test patch upon request. We only use the highest quality pigments specifically for cosmetic tattooing. Complete aftercare advice is provided at the end of each treatment.
Will the treatment hurt?
Anaesthetics are used to numb the treatment area prior to and during the procedure. If you have a low pain threshold you may feel only mild discomfort at the beginning of your treatment but we continue to numb the area throughout.
Most clients describe feeling a gentle scratching sensation and can actually take a nap during the procedure. This is the case with eyebrow, eyeliner and lip tattoo services.
Can I wear makeup following cosmetic tattoo treatments?
We advise you do not apply makeup directly to the treated area during the healing process (6-10 days). Mineral foundation can be carefully applied around the area to conceal any redness you may experience post-treatment.
Eyebrow/eyelash tinting and eyelash extensions should not be applied for a minimum of 2 weeks following a tattoo procedure. For eyeliner tattooing – no eye makeup including mascara should be worn for at least 4 days.
For lip tattooing – no lipstick/lip products should be used for minimum 10 days, please keep lips hydrated with the provided aftercare balm.
Eyebrows
How long does an eyebrow tattoo treatment take?
We allow 2.5 hours for our Signature Eyebrow Service and 1.5 hours for the 4-6 week touch-up service.
What do I need to do prior to an eyebrow tattoo treatment?
Prior to an eyebrow tattooing appointment:
- Do not wax/tint/thread or tweeze your brows less than 24hrs prior
- Do not have injectables services performed (botox/filllers) less than 48hrs prior
- Your skin cannot be sunburnt, inflammed or open in the area to be treated
- There is no need to groom your brows prior to an appointment – your artist will shape your brows prior to the tattoo and remove any unwanted hair.
- If you take blood thinning medications (aspirin, warfarin etc) including Vit E or Fish oil supps please consult with your doctor to ensure it is safe for you to pause medication for 48hrs prior to your appointment.
How long does eyebrow tattooing last?
Semi-permanent eyebrow tattooing can last from 6-18months depending on a number of factors such as your skin type, sun exposure and lifestyle. We recommend a colour refresh every 12 months to maintain your eyebrow tattoo and keep it looking fresh.
Factors that contribute to faster fading include; Sun exposure, medications (thyroid, anti-depressants and others), the tattoo style you choose (Feather Touch fades faster) and lighter colour selections at time of treatment. The use of active skincare should also be avoided over the tattooed area. With the correct care you can expect a longer lasting result. Read more here.
What to expect after an eyebrow tattooing treatment?
- Immediately after treatment, the colour will appear much darker than your chosen shade.
- A few days after your treatment, itching and flaking may occur as the skin heals. Apply the provided cream to the treated area as recommended in your aftercare advice.
- From 10-14 days the area should be completely healed, revealing a softer colour.
- Feather and Lace provides a complimentary touch-up appointment with all Signature Eyebrow Services to perfect any minor areas that may require attention. We can also adjust final colour in this appointment. Read more about what follows an eyebrow tattooing treatment.
